Sometimes you have to dredge the sludge before you can skim the scum (but only when you’re ready)…
February 2026

“Calm as a millpond’ said my client. ‘I’m fine. I really am. It’s just that I don’t want to drag things up from the past. Everything is okay as it is’.
Let’s not muddy the water – look how beautiful, how smooth, and clear, and unruffled it is. Picture perfect. Delightful – appealing. Easy on the eye. No-one would ever guess what’s beneath the surface.
One of the great things about working with the Bach Flower Remedies is that the client is met where he or she is in the present moment. There’s no need to ‘go back to the beginning’, to rehash old stuff, or to drag up the past – unless a client feels ready to.
Only when – or if – the client chooses to explore what lies beneath those still waters, that’s when we go there. There may be trauma, complicated grief, or it may simply feel too much, too overwhelming, too shameful. We gently build trust and support. We work with the ‘now’.
And when the time is right, and the waters begin to swirl, there will be compassion and gentleness, so that the client is supported with whatever emerges.
