Tussling with Change

Like many people, I tussle a bit with change – even if, or especially when, I’m not particularly happy in my un-changed state.

‘I have the help I need – I only have to ask’. Often it’s the ‘asking for help’ which can be a block. And as well as being a block, it can be a door which lets in The Unhelpful Shoulds – ‘I should be able to do this by now. I should be able to do this on my own’.

The shoulds can be accompanied by shame, or guilt, or both, with an extra helping of negative past-patterning. This can quickly spiral down into paralysis of thought and action, where the uncomfortable familiar feels even more of a safe place.

So what’s to be done?

Here’s where choosing the Remedies comes in, whether it’s with a professional, or finding information from a reputable source, such as the Bach Centre.

There are 38 Remedies, and countless combinations.

A consultation with a professional can really help us with which Remedies are the best fit for where we are now, looking at how we are feeling in the present.

I regularly make up a bottle for myself, and as it’s the end of November, I feel in need of a boost of energy, and focus for tidying up any loose ends in my life.

I keep looking at the trees naturally releasing their leaves, and reminding myself that this is in order for new growth to take place.  (Note. To. Self.)

Your bottle will be personal, bespoke for you.

In my bottle there’s

Hornbeam, for increasing vitality and energy – it really helps with tackling the to-do list, when we’d rather be doing anything else.

Walnut, for managing transitions such as the changing seasons, as well as letting go of unhelpful and unnecessary stuff. Walnut helps with keeping safe and steady, and gives protection from external situations, including what’s going one emotionally with people around us.

Elm – an easy one to remember as it help when we’re feeling temporarily overwhelmed. Elm’s good for restoring balance when we have a dip, and for managing responsibility; it helps us find our equilibrium again.

Agrimony helps me to be aware of the treachery of ‘comfort food’ at this time of year. It’s wild weather out there, so obviously I need cake with my cuppa. Er, no, I really don’t. Agrimony balances and supports by helping us become more authentic, rather than suppressing emotions by behaviours such as over-eating or over-drinking, or being the life and soul of the party, when we feel very different from that inside.

Chestnut Bud helps with breaking free from old familiar patterns, helps us to become unstuck, and to blossom. For me, it gives me space to review, re-set and recalibrate.

The Remedies are like good friends – they support, they enable positive change, and they encourage us to look at what we’re doing – they help us live our lives fully.
