Client care and support

Supporting clients with Bach Flower Remedies

You, the client, are at the heart of the therapeutic process. Although I have training, and years of experience, you are the expert on you. I will carefully listen in order to find out what ways of working suit you best. And perhaps most of all, I will simply be with you in times of difficulty, heartbreak, or despair.

As well as when you’re energised and upbeat, and looking to develop beneficial ways of improving any aspects of your life.

What are Bach Flower Remedies (and do they work?)

You may be familiar with ‘Rescue Remedy’, often used at times of increased stress such as sitting exams or a driving test.

There are 38 Remedies altogether, each one linked to an emotional state. They are in liquid form, gentle and effective, and are made from plants, flowers, and trees.

They can support and balance, comfort and uplift – and you don’t have to believe in them for them to work, as shown by their high level of effectiveness when used with animals. (That’s what convinced me, and led me to start my training as a practitioner).

The Remedies were developed in the 1930s by Dr Edward Bach, who was a medical practitioner and bacteriologist. He had a keen interest in the development of vaccines, and also in the importance of intestinal flora – a man ahead of his time.

His philosophy was ‘treat the patient’s personality, not his disease’

The Remedies work on the emotional level rather than the physical.

If you have a physical problem, please do seek medical advice.

You can do this while taking the Remedies, because although they won’t, for example, cure your eczema, they can help with feelings such as embarrassment, shame, or not wanting to go out in public.

“I have used Anji Baker’s services on several occasions with positive results. Anji was very professional, calm and caring during the consultations,  giving me space to discuss my circumstances, whilst ensuring I was comfortable to do so. As the consultations happened by phone, the fact that we live 270 miles apart has not inhibited me from accessing this support. I received the Bach Flower Remedies that had been prepared for me personally , promptly by post. I recommend Anji to family, friends, and anyone who will listen.”

What happens in a consultation?

I offer a choice of ways of working – in person, by phone, on Zoom, WhatsApp, and Facetime.

Consultations are 90 minutes long, and the fee includes your bespoke bottle of up to 7 Remedies in a grape brandy preservative. Packing and postage is included.

The session is very much your space, to discuss and explore what’s important to you.

If you know which Remedies you’d like, and you don’t require a consultation, I can make up and post you a bottle with up to 7 Remedies. The cost of this is £20.00 including p&p.

Consultations, and sending bottles without a consultation, are pre-paid by bank transfer, details of which you’ll receive when booking an appointment or requesting your bottle.

If what I offer isn’t right for you, I can recommend or refer you to a colleague for counselling or other healthcare modalities.

Based in South Edinburgh, my face-to-face sessions are held at:

Lauren Scott Health and Wellness

44, Bigger Road, Edinburgh, EH10 7BJ

It’s an exciting location, including Craigdon Mountain Sports Shop, Cobbs dog-friendly cafe, and a Sainsbury’s – and free parking (up to four hours). There’s also parking in nearby streets.

Clients sometimes find that one session is sufficient – a safe space to speak freely, recalibrate, devise plans, and release distress. Other clients come for several months, to uncover and/or get to grips with what’s troubling them.

Some choose to dive deeply and immediately into the pain they carry.
Others choose to tread slowly and carefully.
The ‘right’ approach is the one which works for you.
